An evening of choir performances, strolling entertainment, and more!

Mount Vernon Place celebrates the holiday season with the 43rd annual lighting of the Washington Monument, presented by Charm City Circulator.

A Monumental Occasion takes place Thursday, December 4, 2014 with pre-event festivities at 5:00pm in Mount Vernon. The official ceremony begins at 6pm with the official lighting at approximately 7:45pm.

The evening includes musical performances by Morgan State University Choir, Baltimore School for the Arts Tap Dancing Santas, and Soulful Symphony. The monument will be lit by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and a special guest. The event ends with a colorful fireworks and laser finale choreographed to music. 

Mount Vernon Place is located in the 600-700 block of North Charles Street.

A Monumental Occasion is coordinated by Downtown Partnership of Baltimore in conjunction with the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and the Department of Recreation and Parks.
