Learn to write children's books and stories during a four-week introductory class! Author Margaret Meacham leads the Cloisters'
Let Your Imagination Spin writing course. The informative classes will focus on contemporary children's literature, from picture books to young adult fiction and nonfiction. Writers of all skill levels are welcome to attend.
During the course, students work with the elements of storytelling, including creating strong characters, plot and structure, point of view and voice, theme, style and revision, and marketing your work. The course includes in-class writing exercises, project sharing and critiquing, handouts with suggestions for off-site work, individual consultation and online support.
Margaret Meacham is an award-winning author of more than a dozen novels and professor. The Maryland-based author has gained recognition for her books, including
Oyster Moon,
Secret of Heron Creek,
Quiet! You’re Invisible,
A Mid-semester Night’s Dream, and
A Fairy’s Guide to Understanding Humans. She recently released
The Ghosts of Laurelford and
The Survival of Sarah Landing from Sunbury Press Publishers. Meacham’s writing has also been featured in
